Vagner Rocha

Biography

Vagner Rocha is a Brazilian-American Brazilian jiu-jitsu black belt, MMA veteran, and long-standing fixture of elite no-gi competition. Known for his ferocious pressure, tactical intelligence, and ability to thrive in gritty, high-intensity exchanges, Rocha has built a career as one of the toughest and most durable competitors of his generation. He has competed at the highest levels in MMA, including the UFC, while simultaneously establishing himself as a force in professional grappling.

As a submission grappler, Rocha is best known for his multiple ADCC appearances, where he consistently proved himself against the world’s top athletes. His style blends strong wrestling, suffocating top pressure, dangerous front headlock attacks, and an unmatched ability to make matches physically punishing for his opponents. Even as a veteran later in his career, Rocha continues to compete at the highest level, earning a reputation for being incredibly difficult to submit and nearly impossible to break mentally.

Rocha was recruited by John Danaher for CJI 2, where he showcased the same grit, composure, and iron toughness that have defined his career. Despite facing younger, high-level competitors, he demonstrated exceptional resilience and technical depth, further solidifying his status as one of the sport’s most respected veterans.

In addition to his competitive career, Rocha operates Vagner Rocha Martial Arts in Florida, where he coaches a growing team and continues to influence the next generation of grapplers. His legacy extends through his children as well—Achilles Rocha and Jasmine Rocha—both of whom are rising high-level competitors in their own right, carrying forward the family name in professional jiu-jitsu.
