Renato Canuto
BlackBiography
Renato Canuto is a Brazilian jiu-jitsu black belt known for his explosive, high-pace, and submission-oriented style in both gi and no-gi competition. Born in Brazil, he began training at a young age under the guidance of his father, Valdir Canuto, and quickly developed a game built around creativity, speed, and nonstop offense.
After moving to the United States, Canuto earned his black belt in 2016 from his father. He rose to international prominence while representing Zenith Jiu-Jitsu and Checkmat, training alongside elite competitors and establishing himself as one of the sport’s most exciting athletes.
Canuto’s style is defined by spectacular guard passes, explosive wrestling entries, and creative routes to the back, making him a consistent fan favorite. His competitive resume includes an IBJJF No-Gi Worlds title, a KASAI Pro championship, and a UFC BJJ title. He has showcased his dynamic skillset across major professional competitions including ADCC, where his high-action performances have solidified him as one of the most entertaining and dangerous athletes in modern jiu-jitsu.
Outside of competition, Canuto is married to black belt and MMA fighter Raquel Canuto, and together they run Hybrid Jiu-Jitsu in Las Vegas. The academy has become a hub for high-level training, and it is where Renato continues to develop his game and coach the next generation of athletes.
