Magomed Dzharbaev

Biography

Magomed Dzharbaev is a Dagestani submission grappler, combat sports athlete, and 2026 ADCC World Champion in the -77 kg division. Unlike traditional Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu practitioners, Dzharbaev holds no formal BJJ belt rank and comes from a strong foundation in Sambo and Freestyle Wrestling. His relentless wrestling, heavy top pressure, and leglock defense have established him as one of the most formidable competitors in modern no-gi grappling.

In Dagestan, Dzharbaev trains at the Agat Sports School (Agate Team) under Murad Abdullaev, an Honored Coach of Russia, while regularly sharpening his grappling at Eagles MMA alongside elite fighters including UFC champion Islam Makhachev. When training in the United States, he works with renowned coach John Danaher at Kingsway Jiu-Jitsu, incorporating high-level submission grappling systems into his wrestling-heavy foundation.

Dzharbaev captured international attention on the ADCC circuit, earning his spot at the World Championship by winning the 2025 ADCC European, Middle Eastern, and African Trials. At the 2026 ADCC World Championship, he completed a dominant run to gold in the -77kg bracket, defeating elite grapplers Alexandre De Jesus, Vagner Rocha, Mateusz Szczecinski, and PJ Barch.

Known for his physical pace, positional control, and tactical discipline, Dzharbaev represents the wave of Dagestani wrestling-centric athletes who have successfully adapted their combat styles to conquer the highest levels of submission grappling.
