Kody Steele

Biography

Kody Steele is a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu black belt, professional grappler, and rising Mixed Martial Arts competitor. Born in Washington State, Steele relocated to Texas in 2013 where he began training jiu-jitsu under Rodrigo Cabral at the Brazilian Fight Factory, earning his black belt in 2020.

A former wrestler, Steele quickly combined his grappling foundation with the technicality of Jiu-Jitsu, achieving significant success in the no-gi circuit. He gained notoriety for his aggressive, wrestling-heavy style and was a fixture at major grappling events like Who's Number One.

Steele later shifted his focus fully to MMA, leveraging his grappling skills and developing heavy knockout power in his hands. He moved to Las Vegas, where he currently resides, to train and advance his MMA career, earning a professional record that featured several knockout finishes.

He secured a contract with the UFC through Dana White's Contender Series and recently made his promotional debut at UFC 312 against Rongzhu. Although he suffered his first professional defeat in a unanimous decision, the highly competitive, stand-up war earned the fighters a Fight of the Night bonus, cementing Steele’s reputation as an exciting and well-rounded combat athlete.
