Fellipe Andrew
BlackBiography
Fellipe Andrew is a Brazilian Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu black belt under Rodrigo Cavaca and one of the most active, successful competitors in the heavyweight and absolute divisions of his generation. Initially rising to prominence as a dominant gi athlete with consistent success in major IBJJF events, Andrew has also developed a strong no-gi profile in recent years through high-level submission-only competitions. Over the course of his career, he has represented several major teams, including Zenith JJ, Alliance, and most recently Art of Jiu Jitsu (AOJ).
Andrew’s major gi accomplishments include winning the IBJJF World Championship twice—heavyweight in 2023 and absolute in 2021—and earning multiple IBJJF European and Pan American titles. His technical style is marked by a high work rate, aggressive finishing instincts, and a wide submission arsenal, with signature techniques such as the triangle choke and the botinha (toe hold).
Andrew’s no-gi performances have been increasingly impactful on the professional circuit. At the inaugural Craig Jones Invitational in 2024, he reached the finals of the over 80kg division, a milestone that highlighted his transition to elite-level no-gi competition. Notably, he defeated elite wrestler Daniel Kerkvliet by securing dominant back control, showcasing his ability to neutralize high-caliber wrestling opponents. He ultimately lost in the final to Nicky Rodriguez via rear naked.
Although Andrew faced a temporary setback in 2024 due to an anti-doping suspension, he remains recognized as one of the most prolific and dangerous submission artists in modern Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, with a career defined by technical versatility and relentless competitive activity.
