Biography

Alexandre Ribeiro, better known as "Xande", is a Brazilian jiu-jitsu black belt and one of the most accomplished and respected grapplers in the history of the sport. Known for his complete, fundamentally sound game and near-flawless defensive structure, Ribeiro built a decades-long career defined by consistency, strategic mastery, and the ability to win at the highest levels across multiple eras.

A two-time ADCC World Champion and multiple-time IBJJF World Champion, Xande is celebrated for his exceptional no-gi abilities—particularly his top pressure, guard retention, and ability to shut down even the most explosive opponents. He is also famous for his elite passing mechanics, airtight defense (having gone years without having his guard passed), and a calculated, methodical style that made him one of the hardest athletes to score on in jiu-jitsu history.

Ribeiro now represents the Six Blades Jiu-Jitsu association, continuing the lineage he built alongside his brother Saulo while expanding his own coaching philosophy and competitive influence. Widely regarded as one of the greatest grapplers of all time, Xande Ribeiro’s legacy is defined by his technical precision, strategic intelligence, and the timeless, fundamental approach that kept him dominant across two decades of elite competition.
