Biography
Nick Mataya is an American submission grappler who has emerged as one of the rising talents on the professional no-gi circuit. Competing primarily in the under 77kg weight class, he is known for his dynamic style and effective use of submissions against experienced opponents.
Mataya has competed in major promotions such as WNO, where he has gained attention for his composure and creativity at a high level of competition.
A key member of B-Team Jiu-Jitsu and now Simple Man Martial Arts in Austin, Texas, Mataya trains alongside some of the sport’s best grapplers and has built his reputation around a well-rounded and aggressive approach.
He earned a notable submission victory in his WNO debut at WNO 21, finishing the match with a kimura.
Mataya is a regular competitor on the ADCC Open circuit and is recognized for his rapid technical development and potential to emerge as a future contender at the ADCC World Championships.
