Biography
Tarik Hopstock is a Norwegian Brazilian jiu-jitsu black belt known for his technical creativity and the invention of the “Tarikoplata” which is a shoulder-lock submission often described as a kimura performed with the legs. Hopstock developed the technique as a unique variation within the omoplata and kimura family, using a tight figure-four configuration to isolate the shoulder and create powerful rotational pressure. The move spread quickly throughout the jiu-jitsu community and became closely associated with his name.
Beyond his innovation, Hopstock established himself as one of Europe’s most skilled and technical competitors, earning strong results on the international circuit in events such as the IBJJF European Championships and various professional tournaments. His creative approach, emphasis on leverage-based attacking, and contribution to the evolution of shoulder-lock mechanics have made him a respected figure in jiu-jitsu.
