Sebastian Attard

Biography

Sebastian Attard is an Australian professional grappler and Brazilian jiu-jitsu black belt known for combining exceptional physicality with a highly systematic approach to grappling. His style blends athleticism with technical structure, making him effective in both top control and guard-based exchanges.

Attard previously trained with the New Wave Jiu-Jitsu team in Austin, Texas before the team’s rebrand. Throughout his career, he has competed at elite professional events such as WNO and PGF, consistently facing high-level opponents on the international stage.

Technically, Attard is known for his powerful body lock passing and an aggressive guard centered around wrestle-ups and leglock attacks. Training daily alongside world-class competitors such as Nicholas Meregali and Giancarlo Bodoni, he developed a structured submission game built on modern grappling systems. In 2025, Attard suffered a serious leg injury while training with Oliver Taza, forcing him into a prolonged recovery period. He has since returned to competition and continues working toward competing again at the highest level.

Outside of competition, Attard has built a strong social media presence through humorous training content and match commentary. He also drew significant attention after receiving a one-year IBJJF ban following an on-stage gesture at the IBJJF No-Gi Worlds Championship.
