Rankings

Pound for pound leaders, weight-class ladders, top teams, and the most effective submissions.

How rankings work

Rankings are powered by a hybrid points/Elo-based system that updates after every competition result. Each match adjusts a competitor's rating based on several factors:

  • Win rate — overall consistency of winning across competitions
  • Submission rate — finishing rate, which signals dominance beyond just wins
  • Opponent quality — beating higher-rated athletes earns more than beating lower-rated ones
  • Event prestige — performances at bigger, more competitive events carry greater weight

The system also accounts for recency — older results gradually carry less weight over time. Rankings span pound-for-pound, weight class, submission, team, coach, and legend categories.

Rating formula

Match Points = Base × Event Tier × Time Decay Rating = Σ(Match Points) × Win Rate × (1 + Sub Rate) × Opponent Quality
