Nogipedia Mission Statement
Introduction
Nogipedia exists to give no-gi jiu-jitsu the data infrastructure it needs. As the sport expands with more athletes, promotions, and fans, our goal is to become the central, trusted source for no-gi rankings and information. The entire site is hyperlinked for easy navigation.
Why No-Gi Needs a Unified Record
No-gi jiu-jitsu is the fastest-growing grappling sport that's driven by technical innovation, entertaining characters, and commercial appeal. Yet the sport lacks a single, promotion-agnostic source of truth for who's the best. Promotions like the UFC, FloGrappling, and ONE Championship maintain their own rankings and champions. Nogipedia serves to combine that all into one unified source. This is important for newcomers to the sport to get quickly up to speed on who's who in no-gi grappling.
What's Different from Existing Rankings
Many popular rankings are perceived as subjective with limited transparency into how positions are decided. For example, FloGrappling, a great company that has done so much for no-gi, has their rankings but no objective criteria behind it. Our ranking system uses a simple point-based formula that takes into account win rate, event tiers, and submission rate. Read more about that here.
Weight Classes
Our divisions follow the UFC weight class system, making them instantly recognizable and easy to understand. Athletes often compete across multiple weight classes throughout their careers. We assign each athlete to the most appropriate weight class bucket based on their competition history and typical weight, though this classification is subject to change as their career evolves.
Your Hyperlinked Hub for the Sport
Nogipedia is more than rankings—it's a living, interlinked encyclopedia of no-gi. Explore:
- Athletes — career records, bios, and statistics
- Events — event details and tier
- Techniques — detailed information on your favorite techniques
- Teams — coaches, notable students, and team rankings
- Rankings — by weight class, sex, and pound-for-pound
We're continuously adding more athletes, matches, techniques, and other entities to the database. If you see a name without a hyperlink, it means we haven't added it yet. As our database grows, more names will automatically become clickable links.
Note on data updates: Matches, athlete bios, and other data are constantly being added. If you notice any missing information or incorrect data, please don't worry—we're working on it! You can help us by submitting a form to report any issues or missing information.

Our Mission
Our mission is simple: grow no-gi jiu-jitsu through data. By unifying results, exposing methodology, and hyperlinking the sport's people and moments together, Nogipedia helps fans follow the action and helps deserving athletes get recognized.
Note on text normalization: To improve search accessibility across Nogipedia, accents and special characters in names and text have been normalized. For example, characters like "ń" in "Szczeciński" appear as "n" to ensure consistent and easy searching regardless of keyboard layout or input method.
